From Garden to Garden
Today's Daily Soap {Scripture | Observation | Application | Prayer}
- S: Romans 5:12,14,18-19
- O: You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we're in— first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death. ... But Adam, who got us into this, also points ahead to the One who will get us out of it. ... Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life! One man said no to God and put many people in the wrong; one man said yes to God and put many in the right. [Romans 5:12,14,18-19, MSG]
- A: Everywhere we go, immorality is invading our daily lives. It's everywhere. On television, in the movies, on magazine covers at the checkout counter, even on billboards we pass as we drive down the highway. It is virtually impossible to raise a children today without inundating them with profanity. That, unfortunately, is the world in which we live, like it or not. And, as the book of Revelation explains (more on that topic in a later post, I'm sure), it isn't going to get any better. But one thing we can hold on to with optimism: the immorality will end one day. With the second coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the forces of evil and oppression will be defeated and banished from the face of the earth, and we will live in paradise with the Lord forever. Because One Man, Jesus Christ, said "Yes" to God in the Garden of Gethsemane, we will one day be set free from the torment that began with the first man said "Yes" to the Devil in the Garden of Eden.
- P: Lord, help me to stay focused on that which is all that we live for: your second coming. Help my family and myself to prepare for that day with vigor and anticipation, and to live every day until then as if it were the last.
